An Fíor Gael

Situated in the Grounds of Pairc Colmcille, Carrickmore, An Fíor Gael is dedicated to those who had the vision, courage and national pride to found Naomh Colmcille in 1932, those who have continued to share their goals and those who shall fulfil this honourable goal in the future.

On the surrounding walls, memorial stones have been set in place dedicated to the memory of players and committee members who have passed away while still serving on the committee or playing at any level for the club.

Those honoured are:

  • Diarmuid Walsh
  • Vincent Gormley
  • Jartlath Kerr
  • Joseph McKernan
  • Martin Rafferty

 

The above Picture is dated 10th January 2021 it captures the restoration of An Fíor Gael.

The man who carried out the restoration during the summer on the An Fíor Gael is Jon Kelly. Jon, along with his wife Jen, sculptured it back in 2000. Arthur McCallan was the club Chairman who originally commissioned the An An Fíor Gael Monument. Also in the picture are club chairman Padraig McCallan, vice chairman Gavan McElroy and  2021 Club President Frank McElroy (RIP).
