An Charraig Mhór CLG are deeply saddened by the passing of Father Peter Paul Kerr, our esteemed past player.

A senior championship winner in 1966, 1969, 1978, and 1979, many will fondly recall the winning goal he scored in the dramatic one point victory over Coalisland in the 1969 championship final, a day made all the more special as he lifted the title alongside his late brothers, Eoin (RIP) and Oliver (RIP), who captained the team.

Peter Paul also served the club off the field, contributing his time on the club committee and playing a key role on the football sub committee during the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 1982. He was heavily involved in the writing of The Carrickmore Tradition Volumes 1 and 2, preserving the proud history of our club for future generations.

His dream was fulfilled when he was involved in releasing the Spirit of Carmen CD at a concert with local musicians in 2024.

In his vocation, Father Peter Paul served in a pastoral role within the community, offering spiritual support to An Charraig Mhór GFC. He celebrated funeral Masses for past members and regularly prayed for the well being and success of current players and club members, maintaining a strong and enduring connection to the club.

We extend our deepest condolences to Father Peter’s sisters Mary, Teresa, Betty, and Brigid, his sister in law, his brothers in law, nieces, nephews, and the extended Kerr family.

May he rest in eternal peace.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
