Our Reserves progressed to the semi-final of the Championship with a 1-12 to 0-07 win over Doire Locháin. They will meet Domhnach Mór Away in the Championship semi-final this Friday, 12th August, with a 7:15 pm throw-in.
Na Fianna were the visitors for Round 11 of the Senior and Reserve league on Friday evening. In a highly entertaining match, our seniors had victory stolen from them with the last kick of the game to draw on a 1-11 to 0-14 scoreline. The Reserves played out a comfortable victory 4-19 to 3-08. Sunday league fixtures return this Sunday, 14th, with 2:15 pm and 3:45 pm throw-ins away against Baile na Móna (Moortown).
A mid-week game saw our U15 Grade 1 boys team lose to a strong Ard Bó team. This Thursday 11th they are away against Domhnach Mór at 7:15pm in Round 5 of the league. This Saturday 13th, our U15 Grade 3B boys’ team are Away against An Srath Bán at 2 pm.
There is a 7 pm throw-in this Tuesday 9th Away against An Ómaigh.for our U16 Ladies. On 16th they pay at home against Baile na Móna at the same time.
On Wednesday 10th our U17 boys travel to Coill an Chlochair (Killyclogher) to play Cappagh at 7:15pm in the Grade 1 Championship preliminary round.
Our Senior Ladies continued their good form in the league with a good home win against Cill Íseal 6-05 to 2-09. Their next league match is at home on Saturday, 20th August, against An Droim Mór.

The club is inviting people to volunteer to represent An Charraig Mhór in celebrating our culture in this year’s Scór Sinsear. The categories are Ceili Dancing, Solo Singing, Recreation & Story Telling, Ballad Group, Novelty Act, Instrumental Music and Set Dance. The club is hosting a GAA three-day Skills Development Sports Summer Camp from Monday 22nd August until Wednesday 24th August from 10 am until 1 pm. It’s for Age groups P1 till Second Year. The cost is £25. You can book online at www.abcoaching.ie .
The Youth Presentation has been postponed until later in the summertime.
The Health and Well Being sub committee wish to highlight a few upcoming events:
- Family Farm Health checks – Saturday, 3rd September, 10 am – 4 pm. Booking Details in future notes.
- Oisin McConville will give a talk at the club concerning “Resilience in Sport” on Monday 26th September at 7 pm. This talk will be aimed at the U15 to U19 teams.
- The club will be organising a six-week Yoga and six-week Couch25K programmes – more details to follow in the coming week.
